A young woman will conceive and bear a child,

ADVENT IV:  Candle of Love. (Light two purple and one pink                                                                 candle)

Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
You, LORD, preserve both people and animals.
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;

in your light we see light.

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD

JOYS AND CONCERNS

PRAYERS OF AND FOR THE PEOPLE

We praise you, God of promise,

and give you thanks

for Mary, a daughter of Israel:

who sang the songs of David,

who knew the deeds of Judith,

and held in her heart

the burning words of Isaiah.

Enter our hearts,

as we praise you with thanksgiving

and hear us as we pray for ourselves

and those close to us especially...(pause)

fill our hearts,

as we ask your blessing upon the world

and all its people.

We pray as Mary did:

may your name be holy,

may the hungry be filled,

may the proud be scattered,

and the oppressed raised.

May your love be ever with your people.  Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

OFFERTORY and PRESENTATION OF OUR GIFTS

*THE DOXOLOGY: Grant Us, God, the Grace                        540

Grant us, God, the grace of giving,
with a spirit large and free,
that ourselves and all our living
we may offer faithfully.

*THE OFFERTORY PRAYER: (all)

God  whose  love has  no  limits, accept  these  gifts  of  our

imaginations and our love for you, and may they be part of the

pouring  out of your love for the world.  Amen.

4

*CLOSING HYMN:  “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy”    73

*COMMISSIONING and BENEDICTION

Let us return now to our world with its pain and wonder,

remembering the words of the prophets,

the faithfulness of Mary,

and the longing of all

who yearn for a sign of hope.

And may the blessing of God who is ever faithful,

the blessing of Christ who still comes to us,

and the blessing of the Holy Spirit

who moves within us

and throughout our world,

rest upon us and abide with us,

this day and forevermore.  Amen.

*SUNG BLESSING:

Go now in peace.  Never be afraid.

God will go with you each hour of everyday.

Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true.

Know He will guide you in all you do.

Go now in love, and show you believe.

Reach out to others so all the world can see.

God will be there watching from above.

Go now in peace, in faith, and in love.

            Amen.  Amen.  Amen.
