The former church, which was of wood, was destroyed by fire on April 25th, 1940. In September of that year the cornerstone of the present brick church was laid by His Honor Lieutenant-Governor William G. Clark. The work has been going on since that time, the services being held in the splendid hall in the rear. Now the church is complete and is one of the finest in Eastern Canada. The total cost of the church, including hall, heating plant, pews, etc. is about $29,000. Liberal contributions of the congregation and friends and the $6,700. insurance reduced the debt to about $7,000. in addition to $2,800., the cost of finishing the interior. The pews, pulpit, communion plate and other furniture cost $1,500.
The beautiful church stands on the site of the one destroyed by fire in April 1940. The accommodations are ample for carrying on modern church work, and stands a memorial to the members of the building committee.
