In keeping with our mission statement, we are pleased to be able to offer the use of our facilities for a reasonable rate to groups that service our community. As such, Gibson Memorial United Church reserves the right to restrict access to organizations, groups, and individuals who, act contrary to our mission statement, vision, purpose, constitution, or by-laws.
If you are interested in renting space within the church facility, including the hall, music room, suites, nursery, kitchen, or parlour (meeting room) for long or short-term usage, please contact the office administration to discuss your options and to complete the Application for use of GMUC Facilities form.
Final approval to use church property, in any part, is given by the Church Council.
Once approval is given, the GMUC Rental Agreement must be signed by a representative of your group. This person will be issued a key and will be accountable for ensuring the security and responsible use of the church property, as outlined in the GMUC Use of Available Facilities document.
Available Rooms and Descriptions:
The church hall (image below) is a bright and spacious area measuring 40′ x 57′ (2,300 square feet) with a maximum occupancy of 175 people. This is a great space for larger groups for events such as: hosting dinners (group Christmas dinners), business meetings, workshops, special events (birthdays or anniversaries), some sports related activities (Taekwondo, pickle ball), fitness groups (Zumba or yoga), dance classes, children’s summer camps, etc. The possibilities are endless! The hall has ground access from an ample parking lot, and a wheelchair accessible bathroom. It is attached to a fully-equipped kitchen, as well (Note: this is considered a separate rental). Long tables and chairs are available for use with this room (enough to accommodate over 100 people). The hall entrance at the back of the building is off Henry Street. The hall is available for short-term rentals.
The Ron Hovey Music Room (image below), is 35’ x 35’ (1,225 square feet) and is the most modern addition to the facility, being built in the early 2000’s. The maximum occupancy for this room is 45 people. This room has ground floor access and houses the elevator for the main floor access to the sanctuary. There is a wheelchair accessible washroom (access via elevator). As an added bonus, this room has air conditioning. It is a lovely space for smaller gatherings, music groups, business meetings, workshops, etc. The music room is available for short or long term rentals.
Our fully-equipped kitchen (image below) generates a lot of use within the church. Stocked with ample dishes, cups, glasses, cutlery, and cooking appliances to host a dinner for approximately 100 people. It has a commercial refrigerator, two ovens, one cooktop, a dishwasher, two double sinks, freezer, pie rack, and several coffee cannisters (Maritime Coffee Service) and microwaves. It is available for meal/event preparation, or at a lower fee for simply preparing refreshments for your group. It is at ground level of the building and attached to the church hall, though considered a separate rental from the hall.
The church parlour or meeting room (image below) is a smaller area at 375 square feet with a maximum occupancy of 15 people. It is a great meeting room for a small group. It is on the main level, and not easily wheelchair accessible.
There are a number of suites (example below) available on the second floor measuring 325 square feet per room approximately. These rooms require stair usage without elevator/wheelchair access. These rooms are available for short or long term rentals at feasible rates depending on your requirements. These rooms have easy access to bathrooms, and a kitchenette. This area may be rented as individual rooms or as a unit, such as individual office suites or a daycare space. Again, the possibilities are endless!
Our church nursery (image below) is a nice open carpeted space measuring 500 square feet, typically used by groups involving children’s needs. It has an in-room washroom, lots of shelving and two exits. It is not wheelchair accessible unfortunately.
